Not where you want it to go. Where it went. If you tracked one ordinary day honestly, what would the biggest line be, and would it surprise you?

Scrolling is not rest. Sleeping badly is not rest. Most of us have one thing we defend as rest that leaves us flatter afterwards. What is yours?
Most of us answer a screen before we answer ourselves. The phone has an opinion about the day before we have had one.
Try this instead. Before anything else, one question: what am I carrying today?
Not what is on the list. What is being carried — the unfinished conversation, the worry you set down at midnight and picked up again at six, the thing you are quietly dreading. Name it once. You do not have to solve it.
The day goes differently when you know what you are carrying into it.
What did you find when you asked?
Watch closely and you will notice they are two different things.
The feeling is short. A tightening, a heaviness, a flare of heat. Thirty seconds, often less.
The story is long. This always happens to me. They never listen. I am behind. The story can run for hours, and it is the story that exhausts you, not the feeling.
This week, when something lands, try separating them. Let the feeling be what it is. Then notice the sentence that arrives behind it, and see whether it is true.
Most of them are not.
Not where you meant it to go. Where it actually went.
Attention is the only currency that cannot be borrowed. You can borrow money and buy time, but nobody has found a way to borrow a morning back.
So the reflection for this circle is simple and slightly uncomfortable. Think back across today and ask where the hours actually went — not in categories like work or family, but honestly. How much went to things you chose, and how much to things that chose you?
No judgement in the asking. Just look.
That is the beginning. You have seen every one of the posts.
